The triangle is a classic percussion instrument which makes a high pitch crisp sound when hit with the metal beater. The instrument works off vibration, but your child can experiment with cause and effect by holding the handle or the metal, both which create a very different sound when hit.
Using the triangle is great for cross lateral patterning of the brain as you're doing something different with both hands to make one action. One hand holds the triangle still, while the other strikes. This cross lateral patterning is important for connecting both sides of the brain and developing new motor skills.
